One Winner

Fly-Rite Golf Champs

The team with the lowest score at the end of the three-day tournament wins. What do they get besides bragging rights? A round of beers paid for by the losing team and these nifty "Fly-Rite Champs" golf tags to wear proudly on their bags. (What were you expecting? Money? This ain't the PGA or LIV.)

Don't forget to bring cash!

Art's Tavern, Glen Arbor

Art's is pretty much the only place in town that stays open this time of year, and they only accept cash or checks. There's an ATM outside, but it's better to come prepared. You'll be glad you did. Art's has the best burgers and beers in town, and a bunch of great sandwiches, snacks, etc.

Golf Contests

We're also doing closest to the pin and longest drive contests on day 1 of the tourney. Cost is $20 per player. See the FAQs section for more info.

“It took me 17 years to get 3,000 hits in baseball. It took one afternoon on the golf course.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at tquirozaz@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Glad you asked.

  • Four man scramble. Play your best ball.  All four players hit from the same location,  no more than one club length from where the original ball landed.
  • Play all courses from the White tees. (Except hole #12 at Bahle Farms, Black.)
  • USGA rules apply.
  • Course rules apply.
  • Must use everyone’s drive at least once per 9. Par 3’s don’t count as a drive.
  • If all 4 players hit out of bounds on any given shot, team incurs 1 penalty stroke and plays from nearest spot to where the ball exited course.
  • Must hole out every putt. No gimmes.
  • Everything is on the honor system.
  • Sign/attest and turn in card to Jim or Tony each day.
  • Team with the lowest overall score at the end of the third day wins.

No. It's straight up stroke play. May the best team win.

Yes, we're doing contests. On day 1, we'll do two (2) closest to the pin and one (1) longest drive contest. Here are the rules:

  • These are individual contests, not teams.
  • Each player must pay $20 to TQ before the round begins.
  • Closest to the pin markers will be provided by the course.
  • Ball MUST land on the green for closest to the pin. Fringe shots don't count.
  • Put your name on the marker and place it where the ball lands. (Honor system.)
  • Closest to the hole after all 8 players take their shot wins.
  • Second team playing the hole, please pick up the marker and bring it back to the clubhouse.
  • CTP payout = $60.00 (x 2).
  • Longest drive MUST be in the fairway, proper. First or second cut doesn't count.
  • Put your name on the marker and place it where the ball lands. (Honor system.)
  • Longest drive after all 8 players take their shot wins.
  • Second team playing the hole, please pick up the marker and bring it back to the clubhouse.
  • Longest drive payout = $40.00 (x 1)

If nobody wins one of the contests on day 1 (example, all 8 players miss the green on a par 3), contest carries over to day 2 and we do it again. If nobody wins on day 2, it carries over again to day 3. If nobody wins on day 3, we suck. The money is refunded back to the players to use on golf lessons.

Did you see the British Open this year? It rained buckets and those guys slogged through it, no problem. We will, too. The game's on rain or shine, as long as the course is open. If they pull us off for lightening or flooding, so be it. Otherwise, we're out there taking our lumps. So  pack your rain gear! And maybe a flask or some Fireball minis.
